How to make your own bingo cards

  1. Choose what goes on the cards: your own words, numbers in any range, or blank squares to fill in by hand.
  2. Type your list, one word or phrase per line, or start from a ready-made list. A 5×5 card with a free space needs 24 squares, so a list of 30 to 40 words makes every card different.
  3. Pick the size: 5×5 for the classic game, 4×4 or 3×3 for young children and quick rounds. Add a free space and the B I N G O header if you like.
  4. Download the PDF, one to six cards to a page on US Letter or A4, and print. The last page is the caller’s list: every word, to tick off or cut out and draw from a hat.
  • Free: up to 30 cards per PDF, every one different. Make another batch for a bigger group.
  • Made on your device. The cards are built in your browser; your words are never uploaded.
  • A word caller built in. Put this page on a screen and draw the words one at a time, with no repeats.

Ideas for custom bingo cards

  • Classroom bingo: sight words, spelling words, vocabulary, times-table answers or historical figures. Read the clue, and students mark the answer.
  • Holiday bingo: Christmas bingo, Thanksgiving, Halloween or Easter, with festive words for the whole family.
  • Baby and bridal showers: guests mark gifts as they are unwrapped.
  • Office parties and meetings: team in-jokes, buzzwords or “find someone who…” icebreakers.
  • Road trips and travel: things to spot from the window, like a red car, a cow or a bridge.
  • Sports nights: moments to watch for, like a penalty, a timeout or a touchdown.

Words, numbers or blank

Word bingo is the most flexible: anything that fits in a square works, from single words to short phrases. Number cards can use any range up to 999; with the B I N G O header, each column takes its own share of the numbers, like a real bingo card. For a classic 75-ball game you can check by card number, use our printable numbered bingo cards instead. Blank cards are empty grids for players to fill in themselves: see blank bingo card templates.

Calling a game of word bingo

Draw the words at random with the word caller on this page, or cut up the caller’s list and pull the slips from a hat. Read each word out, give players a moment to find it, and keep going until someone completes a line and shouts bingo. Check the card against the words called, and play the next round for four corners, an X or a full card: see bingo patterns and how to play bingo.

For number cards, call the game with our online bingo caller, which reads out every number with a real voice.

Bingo card generator questions

Is the bingo card generator free?

Yes. Make as many PDFs as you like, with up to 30 cards in each, and no sign-up. Pro, coming soon, prints up to 200 cards at once with your own title on every card.

How many words do I need for bingo cards?

At least as many as the squares on one card: 24 for a 5×5 card with a free space, 16 for 4×4, and 8 for 3×3 with a free space. For cards that are all different, use 30 to 40 words for 5×5.

Is every bingo card different?

Yes. Each card gets its own random choice and order of your words or numbers. Press Shuffle cards for a completely new set.

Can I make bingo cards with pictures?

Not yet: cards hold words and numbers. For picture bingo with young children, print blank cards and let them draw or stick pictures in the squares.

How do I call a game with custom cards?

Use the word caller on this page, which draws each word once in random order, or the caller’s list printed at the end of the PDF. For number cards, use our online bingo caller or number generator.

Can I play with these cards on phones?

Custom cards are made to print. To play on phones, use our online bingo caller: players join with a code and get a numbered 75-ball card that marks itself.
